Jack Steinbrunner Nokesville VA Accident: Beloved Teen Died in a Lightning-Involved Incident

Brentsville District, Kettle Run High School, Manassas, and The Nokesville School Mourn the Loss of Beloved Teen Jack Steinbrunner, Who Died in a Lightning Accident

Communities across Prince William County are in deep mourning following the tragic death of Jack Steinbrunner, a beloved teen whose life was cut short in a lightning accident. Jack, a student connected to both Brentsville District High School and Kettle Run High School, passed away late last night at the hospital after suffering severe injuries, leaving family, friends, classmates, and teachers devastated.

Jack is remembered as a gentle, humble, and hardworking young man whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His sudden passing has sent waves of grief through multiple school communities—including those in Manassas and The Nokesville School—where many had strong ties to Jack and his family.

Speaking on behalf of the Steinbrunner family, Casey Cline shared a heartfelt message expressing the depth of their loss:

“We are heartbroken by the loss of a young man who was cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. During this difficult time, the family of Jack Steinbrunner kindly asks that there be no visits to the home as they navigate their grief.”

As news of Jack’s passing spread, many reached out asking how they could help. While the family is grateful for the outpouring of love, they are unable to host visitors at this time. Instead, they have offered another way for those who wish to support them:

“Many have asked how they can help. In moments like these, it is natural to want to offer comfort and support. In lieu of meals, the family would greatly appreciate gift cards such as DoorDash, Grubhub, or local grocery stores,” Cline said.

GoFundMe;  Gift cards may be delivered to the Cline Family at 11421 Morla Lane, where they will be collected and passed directly to Jack’s family.

Tributes continue to pour in from those who knew Jack well. Family members and friends describe him as a bright and remarkable young man whose strong work ethic and quiet kindness were evident even when he was very young.

“Jack was always so kind, humble, and hardworking, even from a young age,” one family member recalled.

In response to the tragedy, local schools are preparing grief counseling and support services for students and staff. Educators say they are committed to helping classmates process the loss of someone who was not only a friend, but a source of inspiration and positivity.

Jack’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The community stands united in support of his grieving family—Lindsay Marie, Ally Steinbrunner, Jamie Steinbrunner, and all who loved him and are navigating this unimaginable loss.

The family and the broader community ask for continued compassion, patience, and respect during this profoundly difficult time.
